Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Line a baking tray with baking paper.

Note: If you are using pre-cooked Brussels sprouts, you can skip the baking and start making the sauce straight away. If you use bacon, you have to fry it in a pan until crispy.

  • Clean the Brussels sprouts by first washing them and then peeling off the outer leaves.
  • Cut all the heads in half.
  • In a sufficiently large bowl, mix the vegetables with the oil and season with pepper and salt.
  • Spread the seasoned Brussels sprout halves on the prepared baking sheet.
  • If you are using bacon, spread it on the tray too.
  • Bake for about 25 minutes, stirring once halfway through the baking time. During this time, the Brussels sprouts should turn brown and the bacon should become crispy.
  • Meanwhileprepare the mustard sauce(and the side dish if you want one). To do this, first heat the cream in a pot.
  • In the meantime, chop the garlic.
  • Stir the mustard and honey into the cream.
  • Add the minced garlic and lemon juice.
  • Now let the mustard sauce simmer for a few minutes over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally, otherwise the liquid will quickly burn. The sauce is ready as soon as it thickens slightly.

As soon as the Brussels sprouts are also ready, you can distribute them on plates (also with lettuce leaves underneath as a serving suggestion) and then either garnish directly with the mustard sauce or serve the sauce separately so that everyone can help themselves.

Gnocchi is one of the most popular side dishes. How aboutthis recipe?
