This year I would like to surprise my family and friends with a special gift from the bottle and make my own Vanillekipferl Liqueur. Why? Because for me the vanilla crescent is one of the most popular Christmas cookies ever. The combination of butter, vanilla sugar and almonds gives it its typical intense taste that we all love at home.
Vanilla Kipferl Liqueur: This is how you make your own Christmas liqueur
Sweet, creamy and with a nutty note: for everyone who likes to celebrate AdventTreat yourself to a Christmas liqueur, the next idea comes just in time. Vanilla Kipferl Liqueur is ready in less than a quarter of an hour and is therefore the perfect alcoholic drink for unexpected guests or a last-minute gift for friends and family. The preparation is incredibly easy and I think even complete beginners like me can easily make the delicious drink myself.
The necessary ingredients:
- 100 g light, roasted and ground shelled almonds (optional: almond butter)
- 20 g hazelnut butter
- The pulp of two vanilla beans
- 130g brown sugar
- 400g whipped cream
- 200 ml milk
- 250 ml Vodka
Prepare the Christmas liqueur in the pot
1. Place the brown sugar, milk, heavy cream and nuts (ground and as nut butter) in a saucepan. Bring the milk mixture to the boil over medium heat for about 5 to 7 minutes and simmer, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves.
2. Reduce the heat and add the alcohol. Heat the liqueur for another 15 seconds and then remove the pot from the heat.
3. Strain the liquid through a sieve and pour warm into sterilized bottles (600 ml each) with a funnel. Then let it cool down and put it in the fridge after about 10 to 15 minutes.
4.The creamy liqueurstore in the refrigerator. Even closed bottles must be kept cold.
Prepare vanilla crescent liqueur in the Thermomix
1. Add sugar, milk, whipped cream and ground nuts to the Thermomix. First bring to the boil on level three and then simmer for 1-2 minutes.
2. Pour the vodka into the Thermomix and let the milk mixture heat up on level 3 (at 70° Celsius) for about 20 seconds.
3. Pour the liqueur warm into the sterilized glass bottles, seal the bottles airtight and then let them cool for a quarter of an hour.
Sterilize the glass bottles
- In the pot:Wash the bottles thoroughly with detergent, place them in a large pot and pour cold water over them. The water should completely cover the bottles. Then bring the water to the boil and let the glass bottles boil for about 10 minutes.
- In the Thermomix:Fill the mixing bowl with water, place the Varoma container on top and place the bottles on top with the opening facing down. Then let it sterilize on level 1 for about 25 minutes.
Vanilla Kipferl Liqueur is a modern twist on the classic Christmas cookie. As with all kitchen gifts, you should make a label and write down all the ingredients used. The use by date or best before date should also be noted. The shelf life is 4 weeks if the liqueur is stored in the refrigerator and in closed, sterilized bottles. Shake the bottle slightly before use. You should definitely stick to the quantity of nuts, otherwise the Christmas liqueur will become too thick and cannot be poured from the bottle.
By the way, you can not only give the liqueur as a gift or serve it as a dessert, but you can also use it in baking. This gives even the simple cookies a wonderful nutty touch.
I plan to try both recipes this week. I want the liqueur as a surprisefor my sisterbring with you for lunch on the 3rd Advent.
