Christmas decoration for windows – large cardboard star with branches
This interesting oneChristmas window decorationsYou can simply lean it against the window or even hang it as you wish. And depending on the age of the children, you can make the star yourselfcraftOr you can create a cardboard star made by an adult using just the twigs. Let's get started:
- Cardboard strips
- Tree branches
- Decorations like cones, orange slices, beads, snowflakes or whatever else you can get your hands on
- Hot glue
- white and gold spray paint (or other colors if desired)
The cardboard strips are first glued together like a star. To do this, you can fold or cut them as you wish. Of course, the strips can also overlap in order to stick them together. Then add the branches in a criss-cross pattern. Not only do they have a decorative purpose, but they also make the star more stable because they serve as a support.
Then spray! The best way to do this is outside in the fresh air or with the window wide open. Spray paint the edge white and the center of the star gold (or come up with other combinations). Finally, add any decorations you like. You can glue these or hang them on the branches.
Would you like to make a shining star as a window decoration for Christmas with children? Then just add a string of LED lights!
Make window decorations for Christmas with children - winter landscape made of tissue paper
Surely you know how children love to draw on walls and doors, even though they know they aren't allowed to. At Christmas time you can offer them a great alternative - namely the window. This doesn't just mean chalk markers that can be used to paint the discs, butentire landscapesmade out of paper. This is how you can recreate the snow landscape from the example:
- white tissue paper (and other colors for other elements such as fir trees, for example)
- optional blue cellophane for shimmering elements
- heavily diluted Mod Podge/napkin glue
Cut the paper and cellophane into large pieces (e.g. hand-sized). Wet a spot on the window and then press a piece of paper against the window. Using a brush, moisten it with the highly diluted glue. The paper would stick even with pure water, but would fall off after drying. That's why the napkin glue is added, which can be easily wiped off the glass later. However, if you only want to carry out the craft project for a moment and do not want a permanent decoration for the window, simply leave out the glue.
You can then also add Christmas trees out of tissue paper or make ones out of other materials and glue them to the window. Other winter motifs such as deer, snowflakes or snowmen are also ideal for the landscape.
Frosty window picture made of paper as a window decoration for Christmas can be made with children
You need a few materials for this simple but pretty idea for Christmas window pictures. The shape is reminiscent of a church window, but you can also try other shapes. How about a star or a Christmas tree, for example? The procedure remains the same.
- Craft paper
- Tissue paper and cellophane in shades of blue (or preferably other colors)
- Scissors
- Glue
- cookie cutters
To create this motif, fold a white sheet of paper in half lengthwise. Then cut it round as shown in the instructions and unfold it. Now use this shape as a template to trace for the craft paper. If you were to work directly with the construction paper, you would end up with an unsightly fold in the middle.
Once you have transferred your shape and cut it out, you can cut holes inside. These can be specific motifs (stars in the example) or simple circles. Cookie cutters are perfect for transferring the shapes. Cut these out too, turn the paper over and glueSnippets of tissue paperand cellophane over the holes. Now you can stick the picture on the window, hang it or lean it. The light shines through the tissue paper and looks wonderful!
Window paints are the classic for designing windows
A few printed Christmas motifs (e.g. simple coloring pages), transparent film and window colors - that's all you need to make interesting window decorations for Christmas with children. Place the selected motif under or in the foil to use it as a stencil. The contours are then traced on the film with special contour paint and as soon as this has dried, the remaining areas can be painted. A toothpick is ideal for distributing the paint. The finished pictures stick to the window pane without any problem and can also be easily removed after the party.
