Making flowers from crepe paper – instructions
For the middle of the flower (the stamen) you need a strip of crepe, which you cut finely lengthwise on both sides to create fringes. Usually this part of the flower is yellow due to the pollen. However, for a poppy you need to use a black color. Then roll up the fringed strip and fold it over in the middle. This will give you a loop through which you can push a piece of wire and knot it. Since the wire isn't pretty to look at and to turn it into a flower stem, wrap it with the adhesive tape. Start at the middle of the flower so that the two ends don't always open up. Then you can go ahead and use the petals to make the crepe paper flowers.
Cut out lots of petals in three different sizes (in the example 19, 15 and 11.5 cm long) from different colored crepe paper. It's best to always use the first one of each size as a template for the rest. Be sure to cut the paper in the direction of its “veins,” otherwise you won’t be able to bend the petals properly afterwards. That's the next step: carefully pull each petal apart. Then glue them to the stems.
Start with the smallest ones - fix the first petal to the stem with the tape, put the next one on and continue wrapping the tape. Each new row should be a little higher than the previous one. Then do the same with the medium-sized petals and finally with the large ones.

In principle, you make the paper roses like the flowers in the instructions above, except that you don't need a yellow center and you can start directly with the petals. Again prepare petals of three sizes. These can be heart-shaped as in these instructions, but also have a simple trapezoid shape. The petals of the first row are best more elongated. In the image above you can see an example of what the petals might look like. You need around 12 petals per flower. Then you can make the flowers out of crepe paper:
Gently pull the petals apart and roll them up a little on the sides. Wrap the wire with the tape. Then place each petal around the wire one at a time, always offset from the previous ones. You can simply hold the individual layers in place or always fix them with a small dab of hot glue. Once you have glued on the narrow and long petals, you can continue with the middle ones. Using a toothpick, bend the edges slightly outwards before sticking them to the flower in the same way.
Once you are finished and happy with the flower, cut out another leaf or two and a strip from the green paper. Fry the strip on one side and then wrap it around the flower (the fringes point upwards). Glue the leaves to the stem and the first rose is ready. Now roll the stamen tightly around a piece of paper wire and twist it in a little so that it doesn't unroll again. Feel free to add a dab of glue too. Then distribute the petals around the stamen. Cut the latter a little in the bottom middle to make it easier to curve. Then cut out a circle from the pink construction paper. This does not have to have an exact edge as it will not be visible later. Then glue the flowers that you have previously slightly curved along the edge of the circle. Then make a second row offset from the first and repeat with a third row of petals.
