How to decorate boiled eggs and serve pretty snack platters

PurchasedEggs are healthyand should be a regular part of our diet. But just putting them in the egg cup is actually kind of boring, don't you think? Therefore, for special occasions or simply to make them more palatable to children, you can arrange them on a plate in an interesting way and create cute animals and other characters. We have put together some ideas that you can use to decorate boiled eggs. And they are not only great for Easter, when the many decorated eggs have to be eaten, but also for many other occasions or simply for normal breakfast without any reason! At the end we also have a few recipes for stuffed eggs.

Decorate eggs for Easter with bunnies

The Easter BunnyNo Easter decoration is missing. And apart from the fact that it is a typical Easter symbol, most children are crazy about this cute animal. That's why you can use the bunny not only as a motif when decorating eggs for Easter, but also for regular breakfast orfor a children's party. There are different ways to turn the eggs into bunnies and we would like to show you a few of them now. The first idea is particularly quick to make and is great if you don't have too much time and want to decorate boiled eggs in a hurry. You need:

  • hard boiled egg
  • materials for shaping the face; e.g. carrot and black sesame or crushed peppercorns for the eyes or food sticks
  • Messer

If you would like to decorate boiled eggs in this way, you have two options. For both, you should first cut the bottom of the egg lengthwise to create a flat surface to stand on. Save this piece. Then for the first variant you can cut the egg white twice in a V shape with a knife. Don't cut too deep. Cut two small pieces of egg white from the part you initially cut off and then carefully push them under the prepared slits to make the earsof the Easter Bunnyprotrude upwards.

The other option is to cut out two ear shapes from the cut part, then cut a large slit in the egg and put the ears into that slit. Then create the face by drawing it with edible markers or cutting a small piece of a carrot and poking a hole in the egg (e.gwith a toothpick) and stick the carrot piece in there. Sesame seeds for eyes stick by themselves (with a little moisture if necessary). If necessary, you can first poke holes in the egg for the eyes.

Bunny with carrot ears

With this idea, the egg stands upright and is decorated with edible ears. A really nice idea that is quick and easy to make and especially great on a plate or in groups of lots of bunniesa serving platterlooks. For such bunnies you need to decorate the eggs as follows:

  • heart bought egg
  • carrot
  • Materials for the eyes (in the example cloves; or see instructions above)
  • Messer

First, check whether the eggs have a sufficiently flat surface to stand on (e.g. if the air bubble was on the bottom). If not, cut off a small portion of the eggs. Then you can decorate the eggs: Cut the carrot long into thin slices and cut out two ear shapes from the slices. Then make a slit in the tip of the egg and insert the rabbit ears into it. Put the eyes in the egg and then make the nose. For this you could use a solid straw or the tipa perforated nozzleuse for punching out. If you have a hole puncher, that can also be used after cleaning it well.

Serve the flat bunny on a plate

Or how about cutting several eggs and then simply putting them together on a plate like a rabbit? How does that work? You will need the following items when accessing thisfunny wayWant to decorate eggs:

You need two hard-boiled eggs per bunny. Halve an egg lengthwise and place one of the halves, yolk side up, on a plate. This will be the rabbit body. Halve the other half again. The two remaining quarters become the rabbit ears. Cut a slice from the second egg as well as the elements for the tail and hind paws (from the egg white). Distribute all the elements on the rabbit's body. Then all you have to do iswith a few vegetablesdecorate the eggs: sesame seeds for the eyes, a small piece of carrot for the nose and leek for the whiskers, for example.

Owl, mouse, hedgehog and chicks

Of course, bunnies aren't the only options. You can also use the same techniques to recreate the animals in the pictures above, among other things. Cut the egg whites for a feather dress for an owl or the needle dressfor a hedgehoga. You get the owl eyes by combining olive slices with carrots and for mouse ears you just need carrot or radish slices that you put in slits.

For the chicksHalve the eggs crosswise and remove the yolk. Then fill the lower halves with any egg filling, put the hoods on and then design the faces using one of the design ideas above. You could also make the egg white jagged to imitate broken eggshells. If you want to decorate eggs for children, animals are always a good choice!

AnotherIdea for owlssee above. The eyes can be made from the white part of the spring onions, which you simply slice. The wings, in turn, are made from halved baby spinach leaves or other leafy vegetables, which you simply shape into the necessary shape.

Half eggs decorate for flowers

Flowers are just as easymade and can be designed in many different ways. For example, you can make the flower center out of any egg filling or dip (or how about caviar for adults). You can also use vegetable pieces for this purpose. Simply assemble the petals from halved eggs, with the yolk facing downwards. The flower stems and leaves can be made from leeks or chives, but also from cucumber strips and slices or anything else you can think of. Be creative!

Decorate filled eggs – Easter baskets

Easter baskets with a difference – for snacking! Choose your favorite stuffed egg recipe and then decorate them like baskets. For the handle, choose flexible, edible vegetables such as chives, very thin strips of cucumber or carrots or peppers. In addition to styling, you can use parsley or edible flowers such as pansies. The grass can be topped with chopped parsleyfor the Easter basketimitate it by simply spreading it around the edge of the egg white on the filling.

Sailboats

These cute sailing boats are also great for stuffed eggs. They are the perfect idea when decorating eggs for a party and are really not difficult to make. You canany vegetablesUse for the sails: you can simply cut hard and curved things such as onions or peppers into small pieces and put them directly into the egg cream. Alternatively, you can make sails out of very thin cucumber or radish slices and toothpicks. You can even use chips, nachos or tacos.

Colored egg whites with filling

Useone of our recipesbelow to prepare such colorful eggs as a snack. Coloring is done with simple food colors. Halve the peeled eggs lengthwise and remove the yolks (which you can then use to make the egg filling). Then add half the egg whites to the colors for a few minutes. Take them out and pat them dry with paper towels. Then you can fill them and get a pretty and edible table decoration without much effort.
