Make alpacas out of paper plates
There are different options for alpacasfrom paper platescrafts, three of which we would like to introduce to you. In the end, you'll be spoiled for choice - or you can just try them all out! First we'll show you how you can make a whole alpaca and then two variations for alpaca heads.
Make whole alpacas out of paper plates
- 1 paper plate
- Acrylic paints
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Hot glue gun and glue
If you want to make an alpaca like this, take a plate and cut it in half. While one half is used for the body, the other half is used for the legs, head and tail. Draw the llama head and neck on the plate and cut it out. Then cut out the other elements from the rest of the plate half. The legs are simple stripes that you round off on one side. You then glue these elements to the other half of the plate, with the outwardly curved side forming the front.
You can then use the acrylic paints to design the rest - the face, a colorful blanket and even a collar. Instead of acrylic paints, you can also use simple felt-tip pens for this purpose, which might be an easier option, especially for children. Then you just have to let the colors dry and the first alpaca is ready. You can't just use white plates, because after all, there aren't just white alpacas. You can toolittle pompoms, use rhinestones and other materials to decorate.
Alpaca head with colorful pompom garland
- 1 paper plate
- colored wool
- little pompoms
- felt-tip pens
- tape
- Glue
Cut off a small part of the edge of the plate on the right and left. You can then use the two cut parts to make the ears for the alpaca. To do this, color a part in the middle pink. On the other part of the plate, draw faces - how about a winking face or a dreamy one with closed eyes? Then use scissors to cut the edges on the sides and top wavy to imitate the alpaca fur. Glue the ears to the head.
Now take the wool, tape one end to the back of the head and wrap it around as desired. You also glue the other end to the back, after which you can continue with a different color of wool. Then glue a few pompoms to the threads at the front and decorate the head with other decorations as desired (e.gwith paper hearts).
Alpaca head with headdress
- 2 paper plates
- Colored paper in the desired fur color and in pink
- Pom Pom Ribbon
- Tassel ribbon
- black felt-tip pen
These instructions for making an alpaca are also really simple and perfect for a craft afternoon with children. Leave a plate as it is - this will be the head. Cut out two ear shapes from the other and glue them to the whole plate. The side that curves outwards becomes the front. Also cut out a circle for the nose from the same plate. Then you need the face, the shape of which you can determine yourself, as well as two pink circles for the cheeks. Glue all the elements on the head, draw the eyes, nose and mouth and decorate the forehead area with the tasselsand bobble ribbons.
Make an alpaca out of paper – make your own finger puppet
With finger puppetsNot only can parents entertain the children, the children themselves can also play with it. And how easy it is to make an alpaca finger puppet out of paper! If you want to make this alpaca, all you need is sturdy craft cardboard in white and another color for the blanket (mint green in the example), a circular hole punch with a large enough diameter so that your fingers can fit through the holes later, felt-tip pens, scissors and glue. You can also use a few pompoms to decorate. Cut out a rectangle with rounded corners, a head and neck, two small ears, a tail and a colored semicircle for the blanket. Punch out the four holes for the fingers and glue all the elements to the body. Then you can paint the alpaca and start playing.
Original greeting or invitation cards
Would you like alpacaMake invitation cardsor simply greet someone on a special occasion with this cute animal? Then this original greeting card would be a great option. Simply draw an alpaca on craft cardboard or print out the animal using a template. The actual card is then hidden in the ceiling. Cut out a colored rectangle and fold it in half. Write your greeting inside and then glue the blanket to the alpaca. You can then use other things when making the alpaca. You can use felt-tip pens to create patterns or use pom-poms to create collars and decorate the ceiling.
Make a cute head as an alpaca card
Not onlyfor a greetingare these card ideas suitable. Even if you would like to make an alpaca voucher (are you giving away an alpaca tour, for example?) you can use such a card. That's why we're showing you another cute variant. You can use any color of craft cardboard when making the alpaca. First, cut out a wavy circle for the head from white paper. Use this as a stencil and transfer it to the colored paper. To create a fold-out card, place the template on the head you have already drawn and trace it again. Then cut out the motif, but without separating the two head pieces. Instead, fold them where they touch.
Now cut out a wavy rectangle for the neck and a circle for the face. Glue this circle on the head, the head on the neck and draw a face. Then you need a wavy semicircle for the alpaca's bangs and two ears that you glue to the back of the head. You can now use the felt-tip pen to distribute wave patterns all over the fur. Open the card and label it. As you can see, a card like this can be used in many different ways. They arefor a child's birthdayinvited? Then you could make it as an alpaca birthday card!
Make your own alpaca bread bag
If you like the above idea for making an alpaca, but you don't necessarily need a greeting card, you can change the instructions a little. By using a bread bag, you make your work a little easier and save time. You don't need to cut out a rectangle for the neck, just use one for this purposefinished bread bagand the head doesn't have to be hinged either. Simply cut out a wavy circle for the head, slightly larger in diameter than the width of the bread bag. All other steps are the same as for the card.

Make an alpaca piñata
A piñata like this is really fun and especially (but not only!) suitable for a Mexican party. For example, if you have planned this theme for a birthday party, you can have an alpaca for your birthdayMake your own piñata. For this purpose, you will find an alpaca craft template to print out below, but if you don't have a printer, you can instead make the alpaca craft without a template and draw it freehand. You only need the rough outlines. The pinata in the example is used to store and hand out invitation cards, but of course you can also fill it with sweets instead. Obtain the following things:
- thin cardboard (e.g. from a corn flake packaging)
- Scissors
- tape
- Tissue paper
- Hot glue
- black felt-tip pen
- Decorations such as tassels or pompoms, string for the harness
Recycle cardboard
Print out the template, cut out the elements, transfer them to the cardstock and cut out the alpacas again. You also need a strip that is about 68.6 cm long (you can measure the exact length with a tape measure) and 1.2 cm wide. You probably won't get this length from a corn flakes package, so you can simply glue two shorter strips together. Once you have cut out all the elements, stick them together with adhesive tape. However, before you close the piñata completely, don't forget to fill it). It doesn't have to be beautiful and perfect because you can use the alpaca afterwards anywaywith tissue papercover.
Then you can make the strips of tissue paper for the alpaca and “clothe” it with them. To do this, cut out strips of tissue paper and cut them halfway down to create fringes. You then gradually glue these strips onto the alpaca box. Start at the bottom and work your way up step by step, with each new row covering the previous one. Craft from the tissue paperalso tasselsfor the ears and as additional decoration. You can use the string to design the dishes and draw the face with a felt-tip pen.

Alpaca decoration for parties with balloons
For this easy alpaca DIYinflate balloons, cut out strips of crepe paper, fringe them and glue them in several rows to the bottom half of the balloon. Cut another oval out of paper and draw the mouth there. Then you need two eyes (you can alternatively draw these on with a sharpie), two ears and a rolled, fringed crepe strip for the bangs. Glue all the elements to the designated locations on the balloon. By the way, you can also make an alpaca lantern by using a paper lantern for parties instead of a balloon. The result is a party decoration with alpaca that is funny and cheerful at the same time.
