One of the most important elements of the colorful carnival is of course the delicious treats, which mainly consist ofCarnival pastries such as Berliners and doughnutsconsist. But it doesn't always have to be the classic! Muffins and cupcakes have long proven to be perfect for any occasion (and even without). For this reason, today we would like to introduce you to some ideas for carnival muffins and how you can decorate them to make them fool-worthy. And the children will also have a lot of fun with it and snacking later on anyway. So if you want to bake muffins for kindergarten at carnival or celebrate at home and prepare something quick, simple and yet delicious, you're sure to find something suitable with us!
In principle, you can use any muffin recipe for carnival muffins. So if you already have a favorite recipe, just choose it - regardless of whether it's chocolate muffins, vanilla muffins,with blueberries, cherries, apples or other fruits, jam or other ingredients. A light-colored dough becomes beautifully colorful if you incorporate sprinkles or chocolate buttons. These release their colors into the dough. Decorate carnival muffins with sprinkles
Sprinkles are also a key word when it comes to decorating the muffins. Turn them into cupcakes with a delicious cream and then simply sprinkle them on topcolorful sugar sprinkles, which these days are no longer just available in stick shapes but in a wide variety of shapes. This is one of the easiest and quickest ideas to make a muffin fun. Edible confetti is also ideal for children's cupcakes for carnival, but of course also for adults. You can also punch one out of rice paper yourself.
Muffin piñata with a surprise effect
Don't you want to invest a lot of time decorating muffins for carnival, but still want to have surprised faces? You can choose between real balloons as well as other things that suggest balloons. These are a variantGelatin balls, which you can make in different colors. However, these take a little more time. Instead, you can also use chewing gum balls that you skewer onto toothpicks and then arrange in groups on the muffins for carnival. Such decorations can of course also be made from fondant - either like the idea with chewing gum balls or flat balloons that are cut out and simply placed on the cupcakes or muffins. There are also silicone molds that can be used.
Made from fondantFirst form a ball, which you then shape into an oval shape like a drop. Then make another tiny ball, flatten it and attach it to the pointier side of the fondant balloon. Insert a piece of wire or a toothpick through both elements and coat the finished balloon with a glaze made from equal parts corn syrup and alcohol (e.g. vodka).
Should itreal balloonsbe? No problem! Use helium-filled balloons, tie string and a toothpick at the other end to stick into the muffin. There should be one balloon per muffin so that they don't suddenly fly up (although muffins hanging on balloons would also be very effective). You can just as easily take smaller balloons, attach them to balloon sticks and then stick them into the muffins.
Fondant garlands
As an alternative to sprinkles, but with the same cheerful effect, there are colorful garlands that you can make yourself from fondant in no time. All you need to do is roll out several colors of fondant thinly, cut it into thin strips, and then wrap those strips around a shish kebab skewer. Carnival muffins with clowns
If you have experience working with fondant and are feeling really creative, you can toofunny clownsproduce. Isn't fondant too much for you? It doesn't have to be complicated to create fun muffins for kids that will be a hit even with adults. You may also find ready-made clown figures that you can simply put into the carnival muffins.

Or you can make clown muffins using wooden beads: draw the face on the bead and glue a wooden stick to the ball. Punch out circles that you stick on the skewer below the ball and then make a small cone out of paper that you place on the bead. The finished clown is funny and cute at the same time and perfect for muffins for carnival, carnival and other happy occasions.
Decorate muffins for carnival with party hats
After you bake the delicious little carnival muffins, you can also have them with yousimple party hatsdecorate. Of course, the real ones are too big, so just make them yourself in advance. Since the paper absorbs the moisture, if you have applied cream, you should only put the cones on the cakes shortly before serving. If you are making simple muffins without cream, simply stick a toothpick inside the cone so that it sticks out a little at the bottom and can be inserted into the small cakes.
Use any paper that can be both plain and patterned. Even thosePaper muffin cups are ideal. You can use this paper to form cones of any size, which you can then decorate with small pom-poms for the top. Then stick the toothpicks in place and you can decorate your carnival muffins.
Rainbow topping for carnival muffins
You would like towork with the piping bag, but don't want to create extremely complicated motifs? You can create such a rainbow pattern with a simple, large hole nozzle. To do this, simply prepare a light cream that you divide into several bowls and color each in a different color. Fill the cream into the piping bag, create a ring on the carnival muffins and then fill them with the cream. Then spray the next color over it, although this time the ring should be a little narrower so that the colors run upwards in a cone.
Rainbow dough

Carnival muffins recipe – multivitamin cupcakes with banana
A typical drink at carnivalis the punchand you get a similar fruity taste with our multivitamin carnival muffins, which are quick and easy to prepare.
- 150 ml multivitamin juice (other juice if desired)
- 250 g Flour
- 120g sugar
- 2 egg whites
- 1 Banane, zerstampft
- 1 packet of orange peel flavoring or grated orange peel (from an unprocessed organic orange)
- 100 ml rapeseed oil (or other oil)
- 1 THE Backpulver
- 1 pinch of salt
- 5 THE Kokosraspeln
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. In a bowl, mix the juice with the orange peel and oil and in another bowl mix the flour with the baking powder, sugar, salt and desiccated coconut. In another bowl, beat the egg white until stiff and stir it together with the egg whitemashed bananainto the flour mixture. Distribute the paper cases in the muffin tin, fill them with the dough and bake for 25 minutes. Use the toothpick test to check whether the carnival muffins are ready.
Baking ideas for carnival – cherry muffins
Fruity, juicy and can be made at any time of year thanks to compote - these cherry muffins will delight young and old alike because they taste simply wonderful. After the baking time and sufficient cooling time, you can decorate the carnival muffins as you wish, for example by using one of our ideas above. You will be the highlightyour carnival partybe!
For 12 muffins:
- 250 g Flour
- 125g soft butter
- 200 g sour cream
- 120g sugar
- 2 Owner
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 jar of cherries with a drained weight of 350 g
- 6 tbsp milk
- optional powdered sugar for sprinkling
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees (160 degrees fan) and drain the cherries. Mix the sugar and vanilla sugar with the butter and then gradually add the eggs and sour cream. Separately mix the flour and baking powder and then add them alternately with the milk to the other mixture. Line a muffin tin with paper cases, distribute the dough and put 4 to 5 cherries in each form. Bake the carnival muffins for about 25 minutes or until the top begins to brown. Check if the cakes are done using the toothpick test.
